Flap and graft reconstruction · skin grafts · scar contracture
Dr. Shaoliang Wang is Director of the Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics Medical Center at Chongqing West District Hospital and the lead physician of this site’s flap and graft reconstruction content. He previously served as Deputy Chief of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at Xinqiao Hospital, affiliated with Army Medical University, and brings more than two decades of tertiary-hospital surgical experience to his practice.
His reconstructive practice covers the problems this site is built around: skin grafting for traumatic, post-burn and post-excision defects; local, regional and free flap reconstruction; release and resurfacing of scar contracture across joints; reconstruction of facial and scalp soft-tissue defects; and the salvage of failed reconstruction from elsewhere. Two decades of tertiary-hospital surgery inform every opinion he gives.

A hospital-based advantage
A flap needs to be watched closely for the first days after surgery, and a failing graft or flap sometimes needs to return to theatre quickly. When microsurgical monitoring, theatre-level care, pathology and intensive care are already in the same building, that backstop is real rather than theoretical.
